There have been a lot of myths surrounding the scheme. Here are the facts:

- “The money would be a spent on an Ely Bypass” – not true
- “Shopping and leisure establishments would lose out” – not true
- “Money from a charge wouldn’t go back into transport” – not true
- “The operating costs would eat up the revenue costs” – report shows otherwise
- “Ditton Meadows would be split in two” – not true
- “Government money to aid the new developments would be enough” – not true
- Myths: “Money would pour straight into Stagecoach bus company” – not true
