Increased funding for ongoing maintenance
Maintenance of roads, cycleways, and streets more generally is a particular problem all around the UK, and Cambridge is no exception. This is because local councils generally have little ‘revenue’ funding (rather than up-front ‘grant’ funding).
A Congestion Charge would mean a new income stream that would improve maintenance and avoid situations like creation of disabled parking spaces taking a year to implement.
