Myths: “Local taxes have paid for the scheme to be drawn up” – not true
The County Council has spent money researching and drawing up the very wide range of proposals that form the combined scheme.
However, this money has come from national government funding grants specifically designed for the purpose.
Relevant documents for this ‘pump-priming fund’ of government money are:
- Announcement that Cambridgeshire has received the government grant, £385,000 (28th November 2005)
- Bid for pump priming funding from Cambridgeshire County Council (6th November 2006)
- Announcement of later second-round awards (6th November 2006)
- Confirmation that Cambridgeshire received £1.055m from the government in the second-round (6th November 2006)
